What happened
On January 6, 2023, at 17:28 UTC, a Cessna 208B, registration YV3032, was performing a takeoff roll from runway 09 at Maiquetía International Airport (SVMI) bound for El Gran Roque. The aircraft, operated by CONVIASA, was carrying twelve people, including two crew members and ten passengers.
During the takeoff roll, the flight crew observed a discrepancy in the engine torque indications. While the analog gauge remained steady at 2200 lbs, the digital indicator showed the torque exceeding limits and entering the red arc. Due to this conflicting information, the crew decided to abort the takeoff. The aircraft vacated runway 09 via intersection L and taxied to remote platform 4A. There were no injuries and the aircraft sustained no damage.
The investigation
The JIAAC investigation included interviews with the pilot in command and a review of the crew's licenses, medical certificates, and training records. The investigation also involved an examination of the aircraft's maintenance logs, airworthiness certificates, and SMS reports.
Technical inspections were conducted by the operator's maintenance organization (OMAC-N 431). As part of the corrective actions, the torque pressure transducer was replaced in accordance with the manufacturer's maintenance manual.
