History of the Flight
During a flight from Barcelona to Riga on 15 August 2016, the captain of Airbus A320 registration HA-LPN began displaying symptoms of severe physical and mental exhaustion. As the condition worsened, the captain handed over his duties to the co-pilot. Another co-pilot of the airline, who was travelling as a passenger, occupied the captain's seat for the remainder of the flight. The captain moved to the observer's seat and monitored the events.
