What happened
A scheduled flight departed from Kobyay at 12:05 local time, bound for Sangar. The aircraft, a single-engine airplane, was operating with two pilots and eight passengers on board. During the cruise phase of the flight, while maintaining an altitude of 550 meters under favorable weather conditions, the engine experienced a loss of power which subsequently led to total failure.
In response to the loss of propulsion, the crew initiated an emergency landing procedure. However, the aircraft struck a prairie situated approximately 35 km southwest of Sangar. Although the impact resulted in the aircraft being damaged beyond repair, there were no injuries among the 10 occupants on board.
Findings
The investigation determined that the engine failure occurred because the number seven cylinder failed during flight. This malfunction was attributed to manufacturing defects within the engine component.
