Air Austral will lease two Boeing 737-800s from ASL Airlines France during a fleet change, the airline said.

The first 737-800, with 186 seats, enters service on 11 November 2026. A second follows in December. The aircraft bridge the gap as Air Austral retires its Airbus A220s and before it takes delivery of Airbus A320 Neos.

Air Austral supplies the cabin crew, while ASL provides the technical crew. The lease runs until 27 March 2027.

The airline said the Boeings will keep operations going through the A220 phase-out and until the A320 Neos are handed over. Air Austral is based in Saint-Denis on Réunion.
