Flyyo to operate charter A320 flights for new Spanish carrier Fly2Galicia
Romanian charter operator Flyyo will fly Airbus A320 services on behalf of Spanish start-up Fly2Galicia, which plans to launch low-cost routes from Santiago in December.
Spanish start-up Fly2Galicia is preparing to launch flights from Santiago de Compostela in northwest Spain. The airline will use an Airbus A320 chartered from Romanian operator Flyyo.
According to Flyyo, the aircraft will operate under a full charter arrangement, with all flights flown under Flyyo's own callsigns. The Bucharest-based carrier, which works as a charter and ACMI operator, will supply the cockpit crew and a purser. Fly2Galicia will provide the remaining cabin crew.
The jet will carry Flyyo's livery at first. The company said plans call for it to be repainted in Fly2Galicia branding later on.
Fly2Galicia is being marketed by Santiago-based Aviation & Mobility Services Group. Its website and social media accounts list planned routes from Santiago to three domestic destinations, Alicante, Granada and Zaragoza, along with international services to Brussels, Milan, Munich, Prague and Venice.
Services are expected to begin in early December, though exact dates for each route have not been confirmed. Fly2Galicia had not responded to a request for comment on the plans at the time of reporting.
The arrangement reflects a common model in European short-haul aviation. New or small brands often lease aircraft and crew from established charter operators rather than build their own fleets from scratch.
