Incident Details
A sport pilot was conducting a landing in a single-engine airplane. The pilot reported that the landing flare was normal until the airplane suddenly touched down sooner than he expected. The airplane then bounced several times, with the nose contacting the runway first.
Damage
After the bounces, the nose gear buckled, and the airplane slid approximately 75 feet to the right edge of the runway. The pilot reported that both the nose gear and the firewall sustained damage.
