Accident Details
A student pilot was conducting a solo flight after completing a dual instruction session with a flight instructor. During the third solo takeoff, the left wing of the airplane dipped and contacted the ground. The aircraft subsequently began to skid to the left, departing the runway before coming to a stop.
Flight Sequence
The flight began as a dual instruction flight with a flight instructor. The pair performed six or seven landings, which included simulated engine failures. After the instructor exited the airplane, the student pilot completed two additional takeoffs and landings to a full stop without incident. On the subsequent solo takeoff, the left wing dipped and contacted the ground, leading to the loss of directional control.
Damage
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the firewall. The student pilot reported no mechanical failure or malfunction of the airplane.
