What happened
During the initial climb phase following departure from Winnipeg Airport, the aircraft experienced mechanical difficulties related to its engine. As a result of these engine problems, the plane was unable to maintain its altitude and began to lose height rapidly.
The descent concluded when the aircraft struck a factory building situated in close proximity to the airport. The impact caused the total destruction of the aircraft. Despite the severity of the crash, emergency responders were able to locate and rescue all five occupants of the plane. No fatalities or injuries were reported among those on board.
Findings
- The primary factor in the loss of altitude was identified as engine problems occurring immediately after takeoff.
