Flight and Diversion

A cargo flight en route from Montevideo to Buenos Aires was cruising at night over the Río de la Plata when the crew encountered engine problems. The crew decided to divert to La Plata Airport, located in Buenos Aires Province.

Accident Sequence

While on approach to La Plata Airport, the crew was forced to attempt an emergency landing. The airplane impacted trees and crashed on a small road located about 5 km northeast of the threshold of runway 20. Upon impact, the aircraft burst into flames.
