What happened
On January 9, an aircraft performing a local training mission experienced a belly landing at Uberaba Airport. Following this initial incident, temporary repairs were performed on the airframe to allow for a repositioning flight. The plan involved transferring the plane to São Paulo to undergo more comprehensive inspections and maintenance.
During the ferry flight, after the crew engaged the pressurization system, the aircraft experienced new structural damage to the fuselage. This secondary failure necessitated an immediate return to the airport. The crew managed to land the aircraft safely, but the cumulative damage resulted in the plane being declared a total loss.
Findings
- The initial incident involved a landing on the undercarriage/belly during a training flight.
- Activation of the pressurization system led to additional structural compromise of the fuselage during the transfer flight.
