What happened
During an approach to Bandar Lampung-Branti Airport, the flight crew encountered adverse weather conditions characterized by low visibility. As the aircraft was on its final approach, it descended beneath the established glide path. During this phase of flight, the plane collided with a building, which subsequently led to a crash and an ensuing fire.
Out of all individuals on board, 33 fatalities were recorded, a figure that includes the entire four-person crew. Despite the severity of the impact, three passengers were successfully rescued from the wreckage.
Findings
Investigations into the accident revealed that the pilot operated the aircraft below the required glide slope while visibility was significantly reduced. The investigation concluded that the crew maintained an unsafe altitude and failed to execute a go-around maneuver despite the lack of visual contact with the runway or the ground surface.
