What happened
On March 3, 2020, an Embraer E-190, registered as LV-CHQ, was operating flight AU2441 as a scheduled commercial service from La Rioja to Aeroparque Jorge Newbery. During the flight, the aircraft experienced a malfunction within its secondary hydraulic system, specifically involving the failure of the Engine Drive Pump #2.
Upon identifying the component failure, the flight crew elected to divert the aircraft to Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires as a precautionary measure. The aircraft landed safely at Ezeiza without any damage to the airframe or injuries to the passengers and crew.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the mechanical failure of the hydraulic pump during the flight. Authorities examined the technical characteristics of the aircraft and the condition of the systems following the event. The investigation concluded that the malfunction was limited to a specific system component and did not involve the engine group itself. Because the incident did not pose a threat to operational safety, the proceedings were moved toward archiving.
