What happened
On May 23, 2019, at approximately 10:06 local time, an Embraer E-190, registration LV-CPI, was involved in a ground incident at General San Martín International Airport in Resistencia, Chaco. The aircraft, operated by Austral Líneas Aéreas, was performing a scheduled commercial flight. During the initial taxi phase, prior to entering the runway, the aircraft's right main landing gear sank into the pavement. The incident occurred in an area located behind the double yellow lines of the commercial apron.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the taxi sequence and the surface conditions at the airport's apron. Investigators examined the specific location where the aircraft was maneuvering to determine why the right main gear lost support. The investigation took place under Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC). No injuries were reported among the 82 occupants on board, and the aircraft sustained no structural damage during the event.
