On October 20, 2020, a Robinson R44 II helicopter, registration RA-04327, crashed in the Nyuksensky District of the Vologda Oblast, near the village of Bobrovskoye. The aircraft was operating under a flight plan that originated from the 'Orlovo' helicopter center in the Moscow region, with an intended route toward a geodetic point near Veliky Ustyug.
The flight crew and passengers had previously flown from Orlovo to Cherepovets airport on October 19, 2020, for refueling, and subsequently to the Kedrovo landing site. The purpose of the mission was to evaluate passenger transport possibilities for upcoming New Year's events at the 'Grandfather Frost Estate'. On the morning of the accident, the pilot-in-command and passengers traveled from a hotel in Vologda back to the Kedrovo landing site to begin pre-flight preparations.
At approximately 09:20 on October 20, 2020, the Vologda Air Rescue Service received notification of the crash. Emergency rescue and fire teams were deployed following an alert issued by the St. Petersburg Coordination and Control Center for Air Accidents.
Forensic examinations of the deceased confirmed that the injuries sustained by the passengers were incompatible with life and consistent with an aircraft accident. While skeletal injuries were identified, the presence of advanced decomposition prevented a definitive determination regarding the exact timing of death or the specific nature of all injuries sustained during the impact.
