What happened
During an approach to Ambon-Pattimura Airport, the crew of a four-engine aircraft encountered severe weather characterized by heavy rainfall. While flying at an altitude of 2,300 feet, the aircraft collided with the slope of Mt Lalaboy, situated approximately 14 km southwest of the runway 04 threshold.
The impact caused the aircraft to disintegrate. There were 70 fatalities among the occupants, with no survivors reported from the crash site.
