What happened
During the initial stages of its descent toward Padang-Tabing Airport, an aircraft lost control and plunged into the waters of the Mentawai Strait. Following the disappearance of the flight, search efforts eventually located debris from the wreckage approximately 120 kilometers south of Padang three days after the incident.
There were 69 fatalities recorded in the accident, as all occupants on board the aircraft perished. The event occurred while the crew was transitioning into the approach phase for landing.
