Incident
Following takeoff from Banjarmasin-Syamsudin Noor Airport, the flight crew declared an emergency after detecting a fire on engine number 2. The crew shut down the affected engine and feathered its propeller before returning to the airport. The aircraft completed a normal landing and came to a stop on the main runway.
Evacuation and Fire
All 77 occupants evacuated the aircraft safely. The aircraft subsequently sustained fire damage and was destroyed.
Investigation
The official investigation determined the probable cause to be a failure and fire on engine number 2, for reasons that remain undetermined.
