Incident Overview
Shortly after takeoff from Wadi Seidna Air Force Base, located in the suburb of Omdurman in the northwest Khartoum area, an airplane went out of control and crashed into a nearby residential neighborhood. The aircraft burst into flames upon impact.
Casualties
All 17 occupants of the airplane were killed, among them Major General Bahr Ahmed. Additionally, 29 people on the ground lost their lives, bringing the total death toll to 46.
Circumstances
It is believed that the crew encountered technical problems after takeoff from the airbase, leading to the loss of control and subsequent crash.
