Accident Details
A positioning flight from an unnamed lake located 60 km south of Loukhi to Loukhi ended in a crash into Lake Keret, approximately 30 km south of Loukhi. The intoxicated captain descended steeply over the lake. The second pilot attempted to prevent the maneuver, but the aircraft struck the water, nosed over, and sank to a depth of 4 metres. The captain drowned; the copilot was rescued by the crew of a boat.
Investigation
An examination of the captain's body revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 1.04‰.
Probable Cause
The official findings state the probable cause was hazardous manoeuvres on the part of the captain, who was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
