What happened
During a flight departing from Abuja-Nnamli Azikiwe Airport, the aircraft experienced a mechanical issue shortly after takeoff. While the aircraft was in its climbing phase, the crew notified Air Traffic Control regarding an engine failure. In response to the emergency, controllers authorized the aircraft to perform an immediate return to the airport.
As the aircraft was executing its final approach toward runway 22, it became uncontrollable. The aircraft subsequently impacted an open field, resulting in a post-crash fire that completely destroyed the airframe. There were 7 fatalities recorded in the accident, involving all occupants on board.
