Flight Decision and Planning
On 12 May 2023, the pilot-in-command decided to conduct a flight on 13 May 2023 along the route from landing site Imperiya 3 to landing site Konakovo and back. The purpose was participation in a RAOPA conference. During the preliminary preparation, the pilot studied the forecast meteorological conditions, the route and flight profile, approach and departure procedures at Konakovo, as well as artificial and natural obstacles at the destination aerodrome and along the route. A radio communication plan for the route and at Konakovo was developed. A navigation and flight engineering calculation for visual flight rules (VFR) was completed. According to the flight plan, the pilot submitted an airspace usage request, which was approved.
Preflight Actions
On 13 May 2023, one hour before the planned departure time, the pilot arrived at Imperiya and began the preflight inspection of the aircraft in the scope prescribed by the Robinson R66 helicopter flight manual, as recorded in the helicopter's logbook. The aircraft was fueled with 280 liters of TS-1 fuel, which ensured the round trip to Konakovo and back with an aeronautical fuel reserve. The takeoff weight and center of gravity did not exceed the helicopter's limitations.
Weather and Fuel Considerations
According to the pilot, meteorological information about the forecast and actual weather conditions along the route and in the flight areas was obtained from the MetAvia2 website, the ATIS of Vnukovo airport, and other commercial websites. The actual meteorological conditions allowed the flight to be conducted under VFR.
Medical Examination Waiver
Due to the absence of medical personnel at Imperiya, a preflight medical examination of the pilot was not performed. The source notes that this does not contradict the requirements of FAP-128 (specifically, clause 8.10.1, which allows a medical examination to be omitted when no medical worker is available at the aerodrome).
