On May 13, 2023, a Robinson R66 helicopter, registered as RA-07372, was involved in an aviation incident approximately 9 km southeast of Konakovo in the Tver region. The flight was part of a planned round trip from the settlement of Imperiya to Konakovo for a conference.
During the flight, the pilot attempted an aerial backward maneuver, also described as taxiing in the air. During this maneuver, the helicopter's rotor struck a wind vane mast. This impact caused the pilot to lose directional control of the aircraft.
Following the rotor strike, the helicopter collided with the ground. The incident occurred during daylight hours under visual meteorological conditions. There were no injuries or fatalities reported as a result of the crash.
Prior to the flight, the pilot had completed pre-flight preparations, including fuel loading of 280 liters of TS-1 fuel, and verified that the takeoff weight and center of gravity were within limits. The pilot had also reviewed weather forecasts and obtained airspace authorization.
