What happened
During the landing phase of the flight, the crew failed to properly configure the aircraft for its approach. This error resulted in a glide path that was too high, causing the aircraft to touch down significantly further down the runway than intended.
Because the runway surface was wet, the available braking action was severely compromised. The pilot was unable to decelerate the aircraft within the remaining length of the pavement. Consequently, the aircraft exited the runway surface and collided with a nearby dyke.
