What happened
On July 15, 2021, at 17:40 UTC, an Airbus A320-232, registration LV-IVO, was operating a scheduled commercial flight from Aeroparque Jorge Newbery in Buenos Aires to Córdoba. After completing its landing at Aeropuerto Internacional Ingeniero Ambrosio Taravella, the aircraft proceeded to taxi toward its assigned parking position, number 3.
While taxiing under the direction of ground personnel, the aircraft's left wingtip made contact with a windsock. The windsock was fully extended but was located outside of its designated position, leading to the collision.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the sequence of events during the taxi phase and the positioning of ground equipment. The inquiry established that the aircraft was following instructions provided by the ground marshaller when the impact occurred. The collision resulted in minor damage to the aircraft, and there were no injuries reported among the crew or the 5 passengers on board.
