What happened
During the landing phase at Kabul Airport on runway 29, the aircraft experienced a mechanical failure immediately following touchdown. The right main landing gear collapsed as the plane made contact with the runway surface. This structural failure caused the right engine nacelle to impact the ground.
Following the impact, the aircraft continued to slide along the runway for several dozen meters before the movement ceased. Despite the severity of the gear collapse, all individuals on board were able to evacuate the aircraft without injury. The incident resulted in zero fatalities and zero injuries.
Findings
- The primary issue involved the collapse of the right main landing gear during the landing roll.
- The impact of the engine nacelle against the runway caused significant structural damage to the airframe.
- The aircraft was declared a total loss, as the damage sustained was beyond repair.
