Incident Details
On 26 January 2020, a Boeing 737-800, registration SP-ENU, experienced an incident at Katowice Airport (EPKT). During the start procedure of engine number 2, the engine start valve (ENG START VALVE) failed to open. The crew observed a lack of turbine rotation and aborted the engine start, following the Non-Normal Checklist (NNC) procedure "ABORTED ENGINE START".
The captain then instructed ground personnel to tow the aircraft back to its parking stand. A mechanic inspected the engine start valve but found no malfunction. A subsequent engine start attempt was successful without any issues, and the crew continued the flight operation without further incidents.
Findings
As of the publication date of the final report, the aircraft had completed nine flights without any recurrence of the fault. The investigation did not determine the cause of the incident. No contributing factors or safety recommendations were formulated.
